Digital Form Builder

Click anywhere on a PDF to place a fillable AcroForm text field, then export a form-ready PDF. Text fields only for now.

Have your own PDF form? Drop it here to fill, sign, or extract its data.

Processing Mode

100% client-side via pdf-lib, which reads and writes AcroForm fields directly in your browser — no file chunks are ever uploaded.

Privacy & Speed

Zero latency from uploads. Nothing you drop or paste here is sent to a server.

Local Hardware

Form field placement and PDF re-assembly happen on your device's CPU — no server round-trip per field.

This builds real, standards-compliant PDF forms — but currently with one field type. Clicking on the page places a genuine AcroForm text field (the same interactive form-field standard Adobe Acrobat and every major PDF viewer support), positioned exactly where you clicked, named however you choose. What it doesn't have yet is checkboxes, radio buttons, dropdowns, date pickers, or signature fields — every field placed today is a fillable text box.

This tool is specifically for PDFs that don't already have fillable fields — a flat scan, a print-to-PDF export, anything where clicking on the page in a normal viewer does nothing. If the PDF you're working with already has real form fields (most official tax and HR forms do), use Fill & Sign PDF instead — see Fillable vs. Non-Fillable PDF Forms for how to tell which one you're holding.

Why AcroForm compatibility matters more than field variety, for now

A text field built with this tool isn't a proprietary overlay that only works inside InstantTools — it's written into the PDF using the same AcroForm structure Acrobat, Preview, Chrome's built-in viewer, and virtually every PDF tool understands. That's what makes the exported file genuinely fillable by anyone, in whatever PDF viewer they already have, without needing this site at all. Field-type variety (checkboxes, signatures) is a real gap worth knowing about before you plan a form around them — but the text fields that do exist are fully standard and portable.

Working around the single field type today

A text field can stand in for more than pure free-text if you name and size it with that in mind — a narrow field labeled "Date (MM/DD/YYYY)" or "Yes/No" does the job of a structured field for a lot of simple forms, even without a dedicated date picker or checkbox widget. For forms that specifically require a real checkbox or signature capture (a legally-reviewed intake form, an e-signature workflow), those field types aren't available here yet.

Common use cases

  • Converting an offer letter or policy PDF into a self-service form employees can fill digitally, using labeled text fields
  • Turning a paper intake form into a fillable PDF for professional services
  • Adding fillable text fields to a registration or application template for digital distribution

FAQ

What field types are supported?

Text fields only, at this time. Each field is placed by clicking on the page and can be named before you place it; every field is created at a fixed size (there's no drag-to-resize yet). Checkboxes, radio buttons, dropdowns, date pickers, and signature fields aren't available yet.

Can recipients fill the form without InstantTools?

Yes. The exported PDF is a standard AcroForm-compatible document that works in Adobe Acrobat, Preview, Chrome, and most PDF viewers — no InstantTools account or access needed to fill it out.

Is my PDF uploaded to a server?

No. All form-field placement and export processing runs in your browser via pdf-lib.

Privacy

All processing runs 100% client-side. No file data is transmitted to external servers.
