Spreadsheet cleanup usually means fixing a handful of specific, mechanical problems rather than one big transformation, so this tool exposes three independent toggles you apply together: trimming leading/trailing whitespace from every cell, removing rows that are entirely blank after trimming, and normalizing text casing (lowercase, UPPERCASE, or Title Case) across the sheet. Each option can be switched on or off before running, so you only apply the changes you actually need.
What happens to your file
Every sheet in the workbook is read, each cell is passed through the operations you've enabled, and — if blank-row removal is on — fully empty rows are dropped from the result. The output is always exported as a fresh .xlsx file (even if you uploaded a .csv), with a before/after row count shown so you can see exactly how many rows were removed.
What this doesn't do yet
It works at the row level, not the column level — a column that's entirely empty across every row isn't currently dropped, only empty rows are. There's also no live preview grid before export; you apply the selected operations and get the row-count summary plus the download, rather than reviewing cell-by-cell changes first.
Common use cases
- Fixing messy customer records before importing into a CRM
- Normalizing free-text responses from a form export (Google Forms, Typeform)
- Removing blank rows and trailing spaces from exported bank statements
- Cleaning CSV files before bulk import into a SQL database
FAQ
What operations does it perform?
Trimming whitespace, removing fully blank rows, and normalizing text casing (upper/lower/title) — each toggled independently before you run the cleanup.
Does it also remove empty columns?
Not currently — only fully empty rows are dropped; column-level cleanup isn't implemented yet.
Does it modify my original file?
No. The tool produces a cleaned copy for download; your original file remains unchanged.
What file formats are supported, and what format is the output?
XLSX, XLS, and CSV are all accepted as input, but the output is always exported as .xlsx.
